How it works
Card first, then the cab timer, then the dashboard
Four steps from card download to a clean compliance trail
The driver card is the source of truth. The timer coaches today. The web dashboard is the deep review. Same account throughout.
- 1
Step 1
Download your driver card on Android
Install from Google Play, sign in with the same email you will use in the browser, and plug a CCID USB reader into the phone. The card file is the source of truth — remaining times and infringements are calculated from that download, not from tapping Start Shift.
- .DDD / .V1B / .ESM / .TGD captured in the cab via USB-OTG
- Auto-upload to your account; first import unlocks 14 days of Pro
- Card download is Free on supported Android devices
- 2
Step 2
Read remaining driving time from that card
Open My Card Data on the phone or the web dashboard. “Can I drive now?” reconstructs daily, weekly and fortnight limits from the imported tachograph file so you can accept or refuse the next booking with a card-backed headline.
- OK to drive, break required, or a limit reached — in plain English
- 14-day compliance preview on Free; full calendar on Pro
- If the timer and the card disagree, trust the card for enforcement
- 3
Step 3
Use the live timer as an in-cab coach (optional)
One-tap Driving, Other Work, POA, and Break/Rest with audible heads-up before key EU 561 / WTD limits. The timer coaches the shift you are on. It does not overwrite the card and is not stored as an infringement.
- Works largely offline; syncs when you have signal
- Skip it entirely if you only want tachograph analysis
- Same login as the dashboard — no second account
- 4
Step 4
Review in the browser and share what an agency asks for
Open the web dashboard in any browser on a Windows, Mac, or Linux laptop. Deep view: day-by-day review, warnings and infringements, WTD reference periods, PDF reports, walkaround checks, invoicing, and Time Pilot AI. Free users get a 14-day preview; Pro unlocks the full suite.
- One account on Android and the web — card data stays with you
- PDF packs for operators; contractor invoices for agency billing
- Manage subscription on the web; open reports from the app menu
What HGV Time Pilot is — and isn't
Straight talk so you know exactly what to expect on day one.
It is
- A driver-first tachograph analysis app for EU 561 / 165, WTD and AETR — remaining times from your card file.
- USB driver-card capture on Android plus a web dashboard in the browser (Windows, Mac, or Linux), with an optional live shift timer.
- One subscription, two surfaces — same login. Built for solo, agency, and owner-operator drivers, not a fleet portal.
Agency work? Tachograph analysis for agency drivers. Comparing apps? Time Pilot vs Tachogram.
It isn't
- A replacement for the digital tachograph, driver card, or required cab entries.
- A guarantee of compliance — alerts on Android are hints until card data is processed server-side.
- Legal advice — Time Pilot AI is a helper, not your transport manager.
